Industry-specific boundaries
Introduction
Many boundary sets in the UK are used for industry or sector specific purposes. Business Geographics
hold a range of these boundaries covering television, radio and the utilities.
Where boundaries are not available off-the-shelf it is frequently possible to create a new boundary
set (for example, covering franchised cable TV operators) by digitising maps or using look-up
documents held by the UK regulatory authorities. To find out more about this service send mail

Prices are in UK Sterling and refer to single-user licensing on a personal computer.
Television boundaries
The United Kingdom has two sets of television geographies, one used by the Incorporated Society of
British Advertisers (ISBA) the other used by the Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB).
ISBA boundaries
Non overlapping boundaries for terrestrial television broadcasters.
ISBA television boundaries £275
BARB boundaries
Overlapping boundaries for terrestrial television broadcasters. BARB boundaries consist of segments,
each of which may be covered by one, two or three broadcasters. This dataset allows for the selection
of complete broadcast territories, solus territories (one broadcaster only) and areas of overlap
(territories covered by more than one broadcaster).
ISBA television boundaries £850
Radio boundaries
The UK has around 150 Independent Local Radio (ILR) and around 50 British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) radio stations. Boundaries are available for
ILR station, BBC stations or both.
ILR radio boundaries £2,950
BBC radio boundaries £1,200
ILR and BBC radio boundaries £3,950
Utility boundaries
Business Geographics hold, and update wherever possible, a number of utility industry and other
ad hoc boundary sets. Mail info@geoweb.co.uk for more
